Assessment

GL Assessments, CAT4 and DELF — international benchmarking from Reception to Year 6.

A first for Malawi

Progress you can see — and trust

SAIPS is proud to be the first school in Malawi to introduce internationally benchmarked assessment from Reception through to Year 6.

Alongside our own robust internal assessment, these external measures give parents a genuine, externally validated picture of their child’s progress — measured not just against classmates, but against leading schools in the United Kingdom and internationally.

Assessment What it measures Who takes it
GL Progress Tests End-of-year attainment in English, Mathematics and Science, benchmarked against UK pupils. Reception – Year 6
CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test) Verbal, non-verbal, quantitative and spatial reasoning — how a child thinks and learns, and their potential. Reception – Year 6
DELF Internationally recognised French language certification. Selected year groups
Internal assessment Ongoing teacher assessment, marking and feedback throughout the year. All pupils

How we use the results

Personalised teaching

Comparing CAT4 potential with attainment helps teachers spot where a child needs support or extra challenge.

Clear reports to parents

Results are shared with families so you understand your child’s strengths and next steps.

School improvement

Whole-school data shows us where our curriculum is strongest and where to improve.
