Our Story & Ethos
An authentic British international primary education, rooted in Malawi and looking out to the world.
One SAIPS family
St. Andrew’s International Primary School (SAIPS) in Blantyre offers a high-quality British-based education in a caring, inclusive setting that nurtures confident, curious global citizens.
We follow the National Curriculum for England, thoughtfully adapted to our local and international context, and deliver it through an inquiry-based approach. We welcome children from 14 months in our Toddler class right through to Year 6, when they move on to secondary school at around age 11.
Our families come from more than 21 nationalities, and that diversity shapes every day at SAIPS — in our classrooms, our celebrations and the friendships our children build.

Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow
Our motto sums up what we want for every child: a joyful, rigorous education now, and the skills and character to lead in a fast-changing world.
Inquiry at the heart
Pupils ask probing questions, investigate real problems and build their own understanding, rather than passively receiving information.
The 4Cs
Critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication run through every subject, from Toddler to Year 6.
Rooted in Africa, open to the world
Our Malawian setting is part of who we are. Children explore African heritage and regional challenges alongside a global curriculum.
Every child known
Small classes, strong pastoral care and a dedicated Wellbeing & Learning Support team mean every child is known, valued and supported.
Growing with our community
Founded in 1938, St. Andrew's International Primary School is one of the oldest international schools in Malawi, with a proud legacy of high-quality British-style education in a warm, inclusive and nurturing environment.
Today SAIPS is home to a vibrant international community of pupils, parents and staff who share a commitment to academic ambition, kindness and pride in our school.
